Project Description
The project involves the integration of anaerobic hybrid digesters into Whitecourt pulp mill’s existing aerobic effluent treatment system.
Recovered organic material will converted into biogas to fuel two reciprocating engines that will each produce up to 6 MW of renewable green power for use by the mill. Recovered heat of engine exhaust gas will be used in pulp drying to reduce the use of natural gas.
