The project entails the development and implementation of an integrated 299 km standard gauge railway network.
Potential Job Creation
About 5 000 jobs will be directly created in the implementation phase, with 50 000 indirect jobs to be created along the railway corridor, in addition to the training of 400 Ghanaians.
Capital Expenditure
The debt facility amount is estimated at $2.1-billion.
Planned Start/End Date
The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and Ghana Railway Company signed a project preparation facility heads of terms agreement and premandate letter to finance the development of the project in June 2023.
