Well done, South Africa, for collaborating globally on the green technology front

When it comes to green energy technology advances, South Africa is showing creditable wisdom. The partnership of our Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) with Johannesburg Stock Exchange-listed Anglo American Platinum to promote the hydrogen economy across the African continent is a case in point and the DSI must take a bow for taking the trouble to go on site at Anglo Platinum’s Mogalakwena mine to engage in dialogue aimed at developing South Africa’s pioneering hydrogen valley project.

Our Council of Scientific and Industrial Research must also be applauded for teaming up with the United States Agency for International Development to launch the jointly developed microgrid centre of excellence. South Africans should all highlight these excellent initiatives to the maximum extent. For us to avoid future tariff penalties on our exported goods, we need to be seen to be trying our best to elevate ourselves above those who deliberately damage Mother Earth.
