Project Description
The project calls for the construction of a WTE plant to replace the outmoded Tachiyagawa municipal solid-waste incineration plant, a 180 t/d facility in the City of Yamagata that has been operating in its Oazaurushiyama sector since 1982.
The new plant will be built on adjoining land under a design, build and operate scheme. Core equipment will include two fluidised-bed-type gasification and melting systems, each with a capacity of 75 t/d, as well as a steam turbine power generation and a hot water supply system that runs on waste heat produced in the incineration process.

Latest Developments
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Environmental & Chemical Engineering (MHIEC), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, has received an order from the Yamagata Area Environmental Office Association for the construction and operation of the WTE facility on a design, build and operate basis.
The total value of the order, construction and operation services is estimated at ¥18.5-billion (before taxes).
MHIEC will be responsible for the plant construction. After completion, Yamagata Eco-Creation, a company based in Yamagata and established with capital backing from MHIEC, will handle the operation.
