Project Description
The project entails the establishment of a 120 MW a run-of-river scheme hydroelectric project, on the river Yamuna, in the state of Uttarakhand.
Water from the Vyasi reservoir will be diverted by constructing an 86-m-high dam and a 2.7-km-long headrace tunnel to the surface powerhouse, at Hathiari village. The project comprises two hydrogenerating sets of 60 MW each, with vertical Francis turbines.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been awarded a contract to build the hydroelectric project in Uttarakhand.
BHEL’s scope of work includes the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of hydrogenerating sets and associated electromechanical works.
The hydrogenerating sets will be supplied by BHEL’s Bhopal unit, with the transformers and the control and monitoring system by the company’s Jhansi and electronics division respectively. The erection and commissioning of the equipment will be undertaken by BHEL’s Power Sector-Northern Region.
