JSE-listed Vodacom has appointed current lead independent nonexecutive director Saki Macozoma as chairperson, effective July 22, following the retirement of Jabu Moleketi.

Moleketi will retire and step down from the board at the forthcoming yearly general meeting to be held July 21.

“The board expresses its thanks to Jabu for his leadership and valuable contribution to both the board and Vodacom over the past 11 years and wishes him much success with his future endeavours,” the company said in a statement on March 27.

Macozoma, who was first appointed to the board in 2017, will also assume the role of Nomination Committee chairperson and will step down from the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.

Vodacom announced the appointment of David Brown as lead independent nonexecutive director, effective July 22, succeeding Macozoma.

Meanwhile, Pierre Klotz has been appointed nonexecutive director and Clive Thomson has been appointed independent nonexecutive director and member of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee, both effective April 1, while Thomas Reisten has resigned from the board with effect from March 31.
