Uranium explorer Foremost granted funding from Saskatchewan's TMEI programme
US- and Canada-listed Foremost Clean Energy has received a $50 000 grant from the government of Saskatchewan's Targeted Mineral Exploration Incentive (TMEI) Programme for uranium exploration in the Athabasca basin.
The TMEI Programme is designed to encourage private sector investment in mineral exploration by providing eligible companies with funding for qualifying exploration expenditures.
Foremost intends to apply the grant proceeds toward advancing its entire Athabasca basin uranium exploration portfolio through ongoing geological, geophysical and drill-target development activities.
Foremost president and CEO Jason Barnard says the funding recognises the quality of exploration work having been completed by the company already and will help support the continued advancement of uranium projects in one of the world's premier mining jurisdictions.
"Saskatchewan remains a key jurisdiction for critical mineral development, and we look forward to continuing our exploration efforts across our highly prospective project portfolio," he states.
Foremost holds an option to earn up to 70% in ten prospective uranium properties - barring the Hatchet Lake prospect where Foremost can earn up to 51% - in the prolific, uranium-rich Athabasca basin of northern Saskatchewan.
The company also has a portfolio of lithium projects at varying stages of development spanning 43 000 acres in Manitoba.
