TÜV SÜD, a global player active in the testing, inspection and certification service market, took another great stride forward yesterday in fulfilling their growth strategy in South Africa

The opening of their new offices for one of their divisions, TÜV SÜD South Africa Pro-Tec in Middelburg, Mpumalanga provided a platform to its executives to share the plans for the group.
Since 2010, when TÜV SÜD entered the South African market with a partnership with a Cape based vehicle inspection company, AVTS Roadworthy Stations, it has grown substantially. The group and all its subsidiaries now employ more than 500 employees at 11 different locations in South Africa.
At the official opening of the TÜV SÜD South Africa Pro-Tec building on the 18th September, Leon Nel, MD of TÜV SÜD South Africa Pro-Tec emphasised the high quality of services that have been assured even more with the merger between the locally based Pro-Tec and the international company TÜV SÜD during October 2011.
Norman van Oudtshoorn, CEO of TÜV SÜD South Africa explained the rationale behind the aggressive growth and expansion strategy of TÜV SÜD in South Africa. He stated that further growth is necessary to continuously improve our position as a sustainable one-stop service provider to our South African customers.
Further to this, TÜV SÜD AG Board member from Munich, Mr Karsten Xander said that TÜV SÜD wanted to support the South African economy in creating more jobs and providing an enabling environment for growth in the country. It was also significant that all the current employees of TÜV SÜD and its subsidiaries are South African, which demonstrates TÜV SÜD’s commitment to its investments in South Africa.
Thus far, TÜV SÜD has invested more than R200 million in mergers and acquisitions in companies involved in assuring quality and safety of people in Power Generation, Lifts and Escalators, Vehicle Roadworthy Inspections and Quality Management Systems. In order to meet its short term 2015 goals and also to remain on track with their 2020 Strategy, TÜV SÜD plans to expand further and is constantly looking for new opportunities for collaboration and expansion.

Active in industry services sector and service provider on power stations, mines, paper mills and other engineering fabrication facilities, it provides inspection and non-destructive testing services for boilers, piping and pressure vessels. Recently additional destructive testing services were also added to the services portfolio. It employs more than 300 technicians and inspectors and is based in Middelburg in Mpumalanga, with satellite offices at all the existing power plants, as well as the two new build mega projects.
