Transnet appoints Andre Pillay as group treasurer
State-owned transport company Transnet has appointed Andre Pillay as group treasurer, with effect from May 1.
"Pillay is a versatile and results-orientated professional with extensive business and financial acumen obtained during a career of 25 years. He possesses a proven track record in managing the largest corporate treasury in South Africa, presiding over a debt and derivative portfolio in excess of R500-billion.
"He also led and executed a funding plan of approximately R300-billion and successfully negotiated and secured multi-billion-dollar agreements with major banks and companies both domestically and internationally," Transnet says.
During his career, Pillay has worked as the National Treasury's liability management chief director and South African Reserve Bank head of reserves management, as well as State-owned power utility Eskom treasurer and JSE-listed telecommunications company Telkom's treasurer.
"Transnet is looking forward to Andre’s contribution in the execution of its strategy," Transnet says.
