South African packaged goods company Tiger Brands has successfully disposed of its abattoir business at Olifantsfontein to Molare Proprietary Limited for R100-million.

The acquisition has become unconditional, Tiger Brands confirmed in a statement on September 30.

The acquisition of the meat processing businesses at Germiston, Polokwane and Pretoria by Country Bird Holdings, however, remains subject to suspensive conditions, which are in the process of being fulfilled, Tiger Brands said.

This includes the transaction evaluation by competition authorities in South Africa and Namibia.
