The true state of the nation is the novella by Andile Mchunu, a 17-year-old boy who resides in a small town in South Africa, called Estcourt. It follows the story of a young boy as he discovers the beauty and evils of the nation. The novella speaks boldly of the atrocities committed by the government and the governed.

"Refuse to be the bed of the wicked but cherish education as your love. No man can give to you what knowledge offers so spend the rest of your days chasing the fruits of education and cultivate yourself within. It is then that you will find beauty that will never fade with age but will increase."

"The true state of the nation" is currently only available as an e-book on Amazon.com
