ARK development, a Racebrook Portfolio Company. Racebrook Capital has signed a 30-year lease with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to build and operate The Ark at JFK on the airport’s north side.
Project Description
The ARK at JFK International airpor thas been conceived as the world’s only animal terminal and the first US Department of Agriculture-approved, full-service, 24-hour, privately owned airport quarantine facility for the import and export of horses, pets, birds, exotic/zoo animals and livestock.
The terminal will be able to handle 70 000 animals a year.
The 178 000 ft2 facility will be built on the site of the JFK International Airport vacant Building 78.
The lot will include an air cargo facility, a veterinary clinic building and a pet boarding facility, along with an animal import and export centre, as well as a livestock handling system.
Some of the luxury facilities at the Ark will include facilities for local pet owners – Paradise 4 Paws, a 20 000 ft2 boarding, grooming and training facility, and a 24/7 veterinary hospital.
Additional services at the terminal include transportation in dedicated climate-controlled vehicles from aircraft, terminals cargo facilities and other airport locations.
