Project Description
The TM-REX will integrate wind and hydropower to produce green hydrogen at the Tent Mountain mine.
Independent expert studies have demonstrated the project’s strong feasibility to generate renewable energy through combined pumped-hydro energy storage (PHES), off-site wind power generation and on-site green hydrogen production.
It will comprise three primary elements:
- a 320 MW PHES facility,
- a 100 MW green hydrogen electrolyser and
- an off-site wind farm.
The project aims to produce 300 GWh/y of on-peak power from the PHES. This 100% renewable power can be used to produce hydrogen at Tent Mountain. The production of hydrogen on site would potentially be Canada’s first large-scale green hydrogen production, with the project planned to produce up to 13 000 t/y of green hydrogen.
Potential Job Creation
Th project could create about 200 construction jobs and about 30 full-time jobs over the life of the operation.

Latest Developments
Montem Resources is progressing with feasibility studies on the TM-REX.
It has applied to Canada’s Clean Fuels Program for C$5-million to help fund the next phase of work, which will include the feasibility study.
