Project Description
The project involves the design, construction and operation of a 126-MW thermal power station with the following components: a high-pressure compressor; a combustor with trifuel combustion; a combined turbine generator fitted with nitrogen oxide burners; a 30-m-high exhaust stack; and a brush-type generator for power generation.

The primary fuels for the power plant will be natural gas, with light crude oil and distillate fuel serving as secondary fuels.

The gas will be transported to the project site from Nigeria through the West African gas pipeline station.

Civil works for the project will include the excavation for the construction of foundations for the gas, turbine, generator, exhaust stack and other balance of plant.

Value
The project will cost an estimated $140-million, to be financed through an equity injection of $44-million and senior loans of $96-million from the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Energy Africa Institute Fund (EAIF) and the Entrepreneurial Development Bank of the Netherlands (FMO).
