Technicrete ISG paves Mabopane Railway Station
Durable, smart and safe paving located at public transportation areas is crucial in order for commuters to have a problem free safe passage, while still ensuring that the finished product looks aesthetically smart. Bokosi Ditshimega JV, developers of the Mabopane Railway Station in Soshanguve, Tshwane, contracted to the leading paving and kerb supplier Technicrete ISG to supply Double Zig Zag (DZZ) paving, kerbs and kerbs.
Bokosi Ditshimega JV, Themba Kokelo said “This project commenced in February 2014 and is due to be completed November 2015. We chose products of Technicrete because according to our experience we know that the products will give us a good quality project”.
Kokelo continued “Some of the challenges that we faced at Mabopane included storage space restrictions due to the overhead power lines and Technicrete assisted us in this regard by availing their trucks at a low cost to assist in moving some of the product on site, from one point to another where products were needed to be constructed. The Technicrete products were used for pedestrian walkways, bus terminals, parking areas, local and long distance taxi terminals. We are pleased with the final finishes of the Technicrete products because they are good quality products and have allowed us to construct the project as per the civil engineering design.
Technicrete supplied 11,649 DZZ Slate grey pavers and kerbs, over 3,559 garden kerbs
with 422 x 1 meter semi-mountable kerbing; 8 x 1 meter barrier kerbs and 168 x 1 meter mountable kerbing for the Mabopane Railway Station in Soshanguve.
Tienie Bronkhorst, the Sales Representative of Technicrete ISG said “When commuters utilise public transportation, of any kind, it is imperative that they are able to walk on high-quality, solid and level paving to and from entrances and exits and that kerbing around parking facilities is not only good in appearance but clearly visible to the commuter. The Technicrete product is such a product. Its installation is well suited to depots, commercial applications and anyplace where there is large amount ‘foot and vehicle traffic’ where longevity and durability is a key factor in the project’s lifespan. The Mabopane Railway Station had height restrictions and therefore we liaised closely with Ditshimega Projects in this regard”.
Technicrete ISG is part of the Infrastructure Specialist Group, which is also the holding company for Ocon Brick and Rocla.
