JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Dual-listed Tawana Resources has appointed Noel O’Brien chief technical officer for its metallurgy and processing division.

A metallurgist and processing expert, O’Brien has experience in multiple lithium projects in Australia and internationally.

O’Brien, who was recently appointed as Birimian nonexecutive director, is also a technical adviser to Kidman Resources, was previously a technical consultant to Galaxy Resources and to the Bikita Minerals lithium project.

Meanwhile, the company has also appointed Wei Xie as nonexecutive director.

Xie is a representative of German company Weier and has been nominated to the board by Weier as part of an equity funding agreement between the two companies.

“We are delighted to further enhance the breadth and skills set of the board and management team at this pivotal point in our development as we advance towards production at the Bald Hill mine in early 2018. We also welcome this opportunity to further strengthen the relationship between Tawana and Weier,” said MD Mark Calderwood.
