Owing to its ongoing supply relationships with many of South Africa’s largest mines in the gold, platinum, uranium, iron-ore and coal sectors, industrial and speciality gas manufacturer and supplier Air Products South Africa is looking forward to attending the 2014 Investing in African Mining Indaba, which will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from February 3 to 6.

The company highlights that the Mining Indaba is the world’s largest mining investment conference, the third-largest mining conference globally and, by some margin, Africa’s largest mining event.

The Mining Indaba brings together an array of key industry stakeholders from around the world, including individuals, companies and global decision-makers who are vested in Africa’s mining industry.

“The Investing in African Mining Indaba provides an essential global perspective on trends in South Africa and the rest of Africa. Our involvement in the mining industry goes back more than forty years and we make it a priority to keep abreast of developments and opportunities in this highly dynamic and critical industry,” says Air Products South Africa central services GM Josua Le Roux.

Air Products supplies the mining industry with oxygen, nitrogen, argon and hydrogen through pipelines, on-site supply plants and tanker deliveries in gas and liquid forms.

Le Roux notes that the company works closely with each of its customer to determine the most cost-effective mode of supply based on volume, use patterns and purity or pressure requirements.

He explains that industrial gases, which offer a variety of applications in mining and mining research, are primarily used to facilitate enhanced efficiency in the extraction and refining processes.

“Industrial gases can be regarded as an unsung hero in the mining environment,” avers Le Roux.

“Without them, many mining processes would grind to a halt. We are proud of our track record when it comes to the reliable and safe delivery of gases to a range of mining and extraction operations. We see our attendance at the upcoming Mining Indaba as essential to maintaining the strong relationships we have established with our customers in the industry and we look forward to forging new ones,” he concludes.
