Talga enlarges German pilot plant
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Advanced materials company Talga Resources has started wet commissioning of its Phase 2 pilot scale test facility, in Germany.
Phase 2 is an expansion of Talga’s existing pilot plant equipment, and involves processing shaped raw graphite ore from the company’s Swedish deposits into slabs of up to 50 kg each.
Additional modified cells have been installed to increase the plant’s total capacity to 365 kg ore feed at a time.
“Commencement of Phase 2 commissioning is an exciting milestone for Talga, marking a transition from setting the foundation, and achieving a better understanding of the fundamentals that impact graphene manufacturing, at a scale well beyond that possible in a laboratory,” said Talga MD Mark Thompson on Wednesday.
Prior to starting full-scale mining in Sweden, Talga would develop graphene and graphite product specifications with the help of industry role-players, and would identify applications that improved the performance of existing materials using current manufacturing techniques.
