The project is located in a single greenhouse tenement in Queensland’s Surat basin, in Australia.

Client
Carbon Transport and Storage Company (CTSCo), a subsidiary of Glencore.

Project Description
The project proposes to undertake carbon dioxide (CO2) storage at depths greater than one kilometre. CCS can capture and store CO2 from coal- and gas-fired power stations, as well as a wide range of other industrial processes such as steelmaking and chemical processes.

A range of local, State and federal government regulations including environmental, social and technical aspects and approval processes will need to be successfully completed before the demonstration project starts in 2019.

Latest Developments
CTSCo has been granted $8.78-million of federal government funding for the project.

This funding will enable CTSCo to conduct a front-end engineering and design study, the next step in moving the project toward a final investment decision to undertake CO2 storage at depths greater than one kilometre.
