With South Africans still licking their wounds after a dismal Proteas batting performance at the Cricket World Cup, Eskom financial problems rose again like a hostile bouncer from England’s young pace bowler, Jofra Archer. While a R230-billion, ten-year injection has been confirmed by the President, the support is still unlikely to be sufficient to place the utility back onto a sustainable footing. Hopefully, new ideas will emerge soon. For the moment, though, we look somewhat stumped.
