Proper leadership will set South Africa back on an upward course under the growing realisation that, if the country strengthens its mining sector, it strengthens the economy as a whole. Chamber of Mines president Mxolisi Mgojo has promised to ensure better outcomes for sector and country, entrenching the awareness that the two are economically twinned. The mining sector remains committed to finding workable solutions in the national interest, with Mgojo reiterating that getting the mining industry back on track will require ethical leadership, good governance and policy and regulatory certainty. That is all within the reach of the country, which cannot afford to miss the next resources upturn.
