Canadian junior Star Diamond and Rio Tinto Exploration Canada (RTEC) are set to meet on March 4 to review data collected from the last two field seasons and to approve an interim expenditures budget for their Fort a la Corne (FalCon) joint venture (JV) project.

The JV partners, which at the end of last year made peace after a protracted period of disagreement over the FalCon venture in Saskatchewan, will use the meeting to approve work for the period starting April 1, 2022 to May 31, 2022. This time will be used as a data review and consultation period before planning further work programmes and setting budgets.

RTEC has indicated that no site exploration work is planned to take place before the end of May.

Star Diamond states that it plans to submit an additional programme and budget for the field season to the project JV before starting work.

“Star Diamond looks forward to working with Rio Tinto Exploration Canada and reviewing the data collected from Rio Tinto Exploration Canada's previous programmes,” comments president and CEO Ken MacNeill.

Star Diamond is also in the process of completing a diamond breakage study, which will be completed in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, the diamond junior announced the appointment of Iamgold co-founder Larry Phillips to the board of directors.
