Location

Client

Project Description
The Stadhavet Sea is the most exposed and most dangerous area along the coast of Norway.

The aim of this project is to enable ships to navigate more safely through Stad by allowing cruise liners and other boats to take a shortcut through the fjords.

The Stad ship tunnel will be 1.7 km long, 37 m high and 26.5 m wide, and it will allow for coastal steamer-sized (Hurtigruten) ships to navigate more safely through the very exposed Stadhavet Sea.

Conventional blasting is envisaged using underground drilling rigs and pallet rigs.

If the project is realised, the Stad ship tunnel will be the world’s first full-scale ship tunnel of this size.
