Emperors Palace will once again light up with energy-efficient solutions when the Southern African Association for Energy Efficiency presents the 8th annual Southern African Energy Efficiency Convention (2013SAEEC) on the 13th and 14th November 2013.

More than 350 delegates representing over 180 companies have pre-registered and are keen to attend the highlight on the energy calendar! This home-brewed event will showcase the latest trends, services and products in South Africa’s energy sector, with an interactive exhibition area to compliment two days of plenary sessions and seminars about energy and environmental management, facilities building upgrades, energy engineering, cogeneration, power generation and efficiency improvement industries.

The SAEE invited and subsidised exhibition stands for young upcoming SA energy companies: Act on Watts, specializing in lighting and energy management solutions; Y Go Green, a youth-owned, youth-orientated green organisation aimed at providing skills to the youth for green jobs and developing emerging energy services businesses for active economic participation in the green economy and Xtream Fuel Treatments are a few of the new energy kids on the block. Karel Steyn, president of SAEE, says: “Attending the convention will assist one to stay informed and at the forefront on the latest developments in energy-efficiency related matters, e.g. regulations, technologies, opportunities, etc. both locally and internationally.

It is also the ideal opportunity to network and collaborate with like-minded people and individuals in the industry, who would proof to be of value in the future while improving your knowledge in a specific area identified upfront.” Mr Xolile Mabusela (Director: Energy Efficiency and Environment at the Department of Energy) together with Ms Anise Sacranie (Consultant: Danish Management), will set the pace in the opening session by addressing how energy efficiency is being implemented in South Africa.

They both represent major role players in the industry and this gives them unique insight into the evolution of energy efficiency in South Africa as a developing country. Mabusela will also present the EEMS and the update on the achievements so far and the planned coming activities of the Department of Energy, a 2013SAEEC exclusive.

Over 62 local and nine international specialist speakers will follow by presenting papers covering the following areas; such as measurement and verification, financing and tax, clean energy generation and green building trends, mining and industrial use of energy and renewable and alternative energy.

On the evening of 13 November, the annual celebration banquet will officially open the event with the SAEE Awards recognising outstanding accomplishments of individuals and companies in the energy industry over the past year. Once again the 2013 SAEE Convention and banquet will celebrate, inspire and encourage this home-brewed thinking through best practice sharing.
