Project Description
National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) issued registration certificates to 16 generation facilities – 11 for own-use and five for commercial purposes, with a combined capacity of 211 MW
– on June 7.

Of the latest registrations, five projects have a capacity higher than 5 MW, with the biggest project being an 80 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) facility.

The commercial projects include :

• Lephalale Solar’s 80 MW solar PV facility, in Limpopo;

• Msenge Emoyeni’s 72 MW wind project, in the Eastern Cape;

• Richtersveld Sunspot’s 40 MW solar PV facility, in the Northern Cape;

• Sturdee Energy’s 10 solar PV project, in Limpopo;

• Terradew Three’s 0.77 MW facility, in Limpopo.

The own-use generation projects include:

• Emling Properties’ 0.220 MW solar PV facility;

• Vega Instruments’ 0.150 solar PV facility;

• Donaventa Holdings’ (trading as Dixon Batteries) 1 MW solar PV facility;

• Fairvest Property Holdings and the Axis Group’s 0.226-MW- and 0.320-MW-capacity solar PV facilities;

• Bo-Karoo Boerdery Trust’s 0.108 MW solar PV facility;

• Capital Propfund’s 0.130 MW solar PV facility;

• Die Afrikaanse Taal-en Kultuurverening’s NPC 0.3 MW solar PV facility;

• K2012150042’s 0.6 MW solar PV facility;

• Limberlost’s 0.350 MW solar facility; and

• Omnia Group’s 5 MW solar PV facility.
