Snorre expansion project.

Location
The project is located in the Norwegian continental shelf.

Project Owner/s
Equinor Petroleum (operator), Petoro, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Norway, Idemitsu Petroleum Norge, DEA Norge and Point Resources.

Project Description
The project will increase recovery from the Snorre field by almost 200-million barrels and extend the life of the field beyond 2040.

The project involves a comprehensive subsea development and upgrading of the Snorre A installation.

The project includes:

  • 12 new wells for production and 12 for injection;
  • six new subsea templates for production and alternating water/gas injection;
  • pipelines and umbilicals between the subsea templates and Snorre A; and
  • upgrading Snorre A to be able to receive production from the subsea templates and supply water and gas for injection to the subsea templates.
     

Potential Job Creation
In the project phase, based on analyses made by Agenda Kaupang, about 23 000 person hours of labour a year will be undertaken in Norway.

Capital Expenditure
NKr19-billion, based on 2017 figures.

Planned Start/End Date
The project is scheduled to start production in 2021.

Latest Developments
Norways’ Ministry of Petroleum and Energy approved the plan for the development and operation of the Snorre expansion project in July.
