Brazil-focused Serabi Gold has reported the death of an employee following a mining-related accident at the production face of its Coringa underground mine over the weekend.

The company said no other personnel were injured in the incident.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the fatality of one of our employees. A full investigation is under way, meanwhile, I join with all of my colleagues and fellow directors in expressing our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," said CEO Mike Hodgson.

Serabi has notified the relevant authorities, including the police, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is ongoing.

Production in the affected area is expected to resume within a few days once the authorities have completed their probe. Mining operations elsewhere at the site remain unaffected.
