Global mineral processing technology company Derrick Corporation has introduced a high-capacity screening solution designed to improve resource recovery while reducing operating costs.

The fine particle wet screening SuperStack machine is designed to address some of the mining industry's most pressing challenges, including improving efficiency in closed grinding circuits, enhancing concentrate grade and recovery, reducing impurities in iron-ore concentrates, and increasing product quality across a range of mineral processing applications.

With eight decks operating in parallel and an innovative front-to-back (FTB) tensioning system, the machine has a demonstrated capacity up to three times that of other currently available fine screens, while requiring only a marginal increase in installation footprint, asserts the company. This enables mining operations to reduce capital expenditure, installation costs and ongoing operating expenses.

The SuperStack’s FTB tensioning technology ensures an even distribution of material across the width of the screen, engaging the full screening surface. This leads to increased panel life by reducing panel wear caused by oversize solids conveying in concentrated areas.

The FTB system also increases serviceability, reducing maintenance downtime and labour requirements. The system enables the time required to change urethane panels to be cut by 75%, explains a Derrick plant manager.

Complementing the SuperStack are a range of integrated products and services designed to maximise performance. These include the Flo-Divider flow distribution system, Derrick’s proprietary vibratory motors, optional repulp spray systems, oversize launder vibrators, and the company’s Polyweb urethane screen panels. The Polyweb panels are engineered to minimise blinding, extend wear life and improve screening efficiency, with operating lifespans ranging from four to twelve months.

With its combination of innovative products, advanced screening technology and comprehensive customer support services, Derrick Corporation says its SuperStack is positioned as a compelling solution for mining companies seeking higher throughput, improved recovery rates and lower total cost of ownership in fine particle processing applications.

Derrick Corporation will be showcasing its SuperStack model at the upcoming Electra Mining Africa expo at its stand D30 in Hall 5.
