Schneider Electric South Africa strengthens its board with appointment of two executive directors

Company Announcement - Schneider Electric South Africa, a specialist in energy management, is pleased to announce that Canninah Mapena and Bongani Twala have been appointed as executive directors to its Board, with immediate effect.Mapena also serves as the director of the energy division at Schneider Electric South Africa. Her focus is on the strategic planning and development of the company’s energy business in southern Africa, customer relationship management, negotiations and deal closing within the utilities market, with particular attention on the mining, minerals and metals  and solar sectors, as well as the oil and gas market, a new avenue for the organisation at this level. Mapenahas hands-on experience in the industry, having completed an electrical engineering technical diploma at Germiston Technical College and an advanced business management and BTech operations management degree at the University of Johannesburg. She is a member of the Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities.

Twala also serves as vice-president for the Service Business Unit at Schneider Electric South Africa. He is tasked with providing leadership to the services business throughout southern Africa; this encompasses all services tasks, from commissioning solutions, through the installation of products to “end of life” services, across all Schneider Electric business units that focus on the industry, utilitiesand buildings market sectors. Twala has held engineering, project management and senior management roles in leading multinational engineering companies,in a career that spans more than 15 years serving both the utilities and industry market sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town.

In addition to their daily responsibilities, both Mapena and Twala will now look after the interest of Schneider Electric South Africa’s two main shareholders: Schneider Electric global and Community Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd

Dr Anna Mokgokong, group executive chairperson at CIH and Joe Madungandaba, group chief executive officer at CIH, serve on the Schneider Electric South Africa board, as non-executive director and chairperson, respectively.

Further executive directors on the board include Schneider Electric representatives Eric Leger: country president for southern Africa, Jeremy Thomas: finance country partner, and Dudley Miller: Conlog general manager. Edgar Reynolds holds the role of company secretary.
