Supply chain professionals who were unable to attend this year’s in-person SAPICS Conference in Cape Town will have the chance to catch up on much of what they missed at the upcoming SAPICS Spring Conference.

SAPICS, The Professional Body for Supply Chain Management, has announced that its Spring Conference on 7 September 2022 will showcase the “best-of-the-best” from the 44th Annual SAPICS Conference which was held in person in Cape Town in June.

“The Spring Conference is a virtual event that is ideal for those who could not join us for the 2022 SAPICS Conference, which was the African supply chain community’s first face-to-face gathering since the pandemic. The SAPICS Spring Conference is also aimed at supply chain professionals looking for a high calibre, high impact, affordable and informative event that doesn’t require extended time out of the office,” explains SAPICS president MJ Schoemaker.

Reflecting its commitment to building and supporting a pipeline of talent in the vital supply chain management profession, and to increasing awareness of supply chain management as an exciting and dynamic career for students and new graduates, SAPICS will also host its 8th annual Young Professional and Student Conference next month (September). This is also a virtual event, which has become a highlight of the annual calendar for students from universities and higher education training institutions, as well as for recent graduates starting their careers in the supply chain sphere.

“Right now, following the pandemic and other chaotic disruptions of supply chains, education, knowledge sharing and networking events like these are more important than ever,” Schoemaker stresses. “With supply chain management thrust into the spotlight, and the agility and transparency of supply chains becoming more critical, SAPICS is committed to elevating, educating and empowering the community of supply chain professionals across Africa, to help them tackle current and future challenges.

SAPICS members can attend the SAPICS Spring and Young Professional and Student Conferences free of charge. There is a cost of R500 for non-members. Delegates with qualifications from ASCM, DDI, ISCEA or IBF can earn maintenance / CPD points by attending these events. “This is a great opportunity for supply chain professionals to maintain their hard-earned certification or designation and benefit from all that the SAPICS Spring Conference and Young Professional and Student Conference have to offer,” Schoemaker concludes.
