The road is located in south-west Colombia, connecting Neiva, Garzón, Pitalito (Huila department), Mocoa and Santana (both in the Putumayo department) and crossing an area of the Cauca department.

Project Description
The Santana Neiva 4G project is a 25- to 29-year public-private concession for the construction, upgrade, rehabilitation, operation and maintenance of the 456 km existing corridor connecting Santana, Mocoa and Neiva.
The project forms part of the second phase of projects under Colombia’s 4G toll road concession programme, which represents the largest infrastructure investment programme undertaken to date in the country.
According to the International Finance Corporation’s website, the project is divided into seven sections:
Functional Unit 1 is 22.6 km long and entails rehabilitation of the existing road and the construction of additional lanes between Neiva and Campoalegre.
Functional Unit 2 is 70.4 km long and includes the rehabilitation of the existing road between Campoalegre and Gigante, and the construction of the bypasses of Betania Sur (1.6 km), Betania Norte (1.4 km), Hobo (3.9 km) and Campoalegre (5.3 km).
Functional Unit 3, between Gigante and Garzon, includes rehabilitation of 29.9 km of the existing road and the construction of the Gigante bypass (5.1 km).
Functional Unit 4 comprises rehabilitation of 107 km of the road between Garzón and San Agustín, and construction of the Timana bypass (3.9 km).
Functional Unit 5 involves the rehabilitation of 63.6 km of road between Pitalito and San Juan de Villalobos.
Functional Unit 6, between San Juan de Villalobos and Mocoa, includes rehabilitation of 66.3 km of road and 8.8 km of bypass construction around Mocoa.
Functional Unit 7 entails the rehabilitation of the road connecting Mocoa and Santana (82.3 km), and the construction of two bypasses for Villagarzón (3.9 km) and Puerto Caicedo (3.3 km).
