(Virtual Showroom): Safety management systems provides your organisation with systematic way to continuously identify and monitor hazards and control risks while providing assurance that the controls in place to manage risk are effective. These management systems are designed and based on internationally accepted framework that is compatible with businesses and organisations of any size and any location.
In 2018, The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) developed the ISO 45001 standard to replace the older OHSAS 18001 standard, on which it was based. The ISO 45001:2018 standard was developed to include the following requirements that brought the Occupational Health and Safety standard in line with the existing Quality (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental (ISO 14001:2015) standards;
Context of the organization;
- Understanding the needs and expectations of workers and other interested parties;
- Leadership and management commitment;
- Planning; and
- Risk and opportunities.
The inclusion of these requirements within the clauses of the standard resulted in the high-level structure of the Occupational Health and Safety standard to be aligned with the Quality and Environmental standards, making integration of management systems easier and more efficient.
While being directed toward involvement of Top management, ISO 45001 has the ultimate goal of ensuring organizations provide a healthy and safe working environment for their employees and everyone else who may visit the workplace.
