Beverage manufacturer South African Breweries (SAB) has invited applicants for the 100+ Accelerator programme, which supports solutions that will contribute to addressing sustainability challenges in South Africa.

The programme has been running for five years, with a record number of 46 startup entries having been received in 2022.

Entries for this year’s cohort close on June 30, with more information available at https://www.100accelerator.com/.

The programme is a partnership between SAB’s parent company, AB InBev, non-alcoholic beverage manufacturer Coca-Cola Company and consumer goods groups Unilever and Colgate-Palmolive.

The judges are searching for the most innovative solutions in key areas, including the circular economy, sustainable agriculture, water stewardship, climate action, biodiversity, inclusive growth and health and wellness.

Notably, the 100+ Accelerator programme focuses on startups with products in the market or who are in the process of marketing them.

The programme is also particularly geared to support great teams headed by entrepreneurs who have surrounded themselves with a variety of talented people to provide a favourable environment for them to succeed.

SAB corporate affairs VP Zoleka Lisa says this year’s programme will focus on innovative solutions that can scale quickly and make a significant impact in one or more challenge areas.

Successful entrants will receive up to 12 months of remote programming and training to accelerate the collaboration and growth of cohort companies in addition to a pilot or alliance with partner companies.

The chosen entries will also receive support from a global team champion and access to mentor networks, as well as $100 000 of funds towards pilot execution of the startup’s innovative idea.

Lisa highlights that no one company can solve sustainability challenges alone, but, through this partnership, SAB and its partners are committed to contributing to solutions that will ultimately propel the country forward.
