Rye Park wind farm project, Australia
Name and Location
Rye Park wind farm project, New South Wales, Australia.
Client
Epuron.
Project Description
The proposed Rye Park wind farm is located to the north of Yass and east of Boorowa, New South Wales.
The project will involve the construction and operation of a 126-turbine wind farm about 250 km south-west of Sydney, New South Wales, and will have the capability to produce about 1.192-million megawatt hours of renewable energy every year, equivalent to the average consumption of about 149 000 homes.
The site will accommodate a wind farm connection substation, up to two collection substations and overhead powerlines, as well as an operations and maintenance facility. Access tracks about 5 m to 6 m wide will connect all of the wind turbines and associated infrastructure.
Underground and overhead cabling, as well as a new overhead powerline will connect the wind turbines to the on-site collection substations and wind farm connection substation. The collection substations will include transformers to increase the voltage from 22 kV or 33 kV to 330 kV and the wind farm will be connected to the existing transmission network through a connection substation adjacent to the existing 330 kV transmission line.
Carbon dioxide emission reductions of 1.153-million tonnes a year will be achieved.
