Project Description
NHS Lothian is redeveloping the Royal Edinburgh campus as part of the hub South East Scotland programme. Over the next ten years, outmoded inpatient facilities at the campus will be replaced.
The first phase includes new state-of-the-art facilities for acute mental healthcare and intensive psychiatric care. The 15 500 m2 single-storey building will replace the current adult acute and older people mental health service units; it will be located on the western edge of the existing Morningside campus. It will provide 185 beds for patients requiring psychiatric care or mental health services, as well as those with specialist brain injuries.
