Rhodes Business School receives accreditation
Rhodes Business School, which forms part of the Grahamstown-based Rhodes University, on Thursday reported that its Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme had been accredited by the global Association of MBAs (AMBA).
AMBA accreditation was the global standard for all MBAs and currently the only association that connected accredited business schools, MBA students, MBA graduates and MBA employers in more than 110 countries. Only 2% of business schools worldwide had been accredited to date.
The formal accreditation letter, signed by AMBA operations director Mark Stoddard, was sent to Rhodes Business School director, Professor Owen Skae, on March 10.
MBA graduates from AMBA-accredited business schools progress to lead many of the world’s largest multinationals and successful entrepreneurial start-ups.
STRATEGIC SIGNIFICANCE
“AMBA accreditation is of huge strategic significance for Rhodes Business School. It formally positions us as a school worthy of taking our place among the international family of business schools,” Skae said.
He added that South Africa was at the forefront of management education issues worldwide and this accreditation offered MBA students the opportunity to pursue an internationally accredited MBA.
Rhodes Business School was a self-funding unit that functioned as an academic department of the Faculty of Commerce at Rhodes University.
