Company Announcement - After a few months of intensely focused planning, training and installation, RGR Technologies (Pty) Ltd, has gone live with the implementation of the Manufacturing Accelerator Programme in a remarkably short period compared to the typical industry standard. RGR Technologies celebrated this achievement with programme partners, Isah, MAP, TLIU, SACEEC and VAMCOSA at their premises on the 14th of October. RGR Technologies is the first SACEEC member to pilot the Manufacturing Accelerator Programme (MAP). The MAP programmes provides, Executive Education, Worker Training, Strategy Development and Smart IT Solutions in one package, customizable based on the type of manufacturing business and the size of the business.
The MAP Programme offers a complete transition into the modern world of agile Make-To-
Order / Engineer-To-Order manufacturing, enabling companies to meet today’s demands for high levels of product and service customisation, high customer services levels with predictable well managed costs, delivery times and quality that are required to compete in today’s competitive world market.
Being the first installation of MAP in South Africa, the challenges faced were soon conquered and the experience has been a worthwhile. Ross Hunter of RGR noted that whilst the installation and training process presented a number of challenges, the in depth knowledge and skill that has been transferred to the organisation, especially during the training phase has been invaluable. RGR has already begun to experience the benefits of the education and training portions that MAP provides.
Achieving this milestone has involved the dedicated commitment and enduring drive of RGR’s Marinus Ras and his team, Rifle-Shot’s Project Management and Installation teams, the on going support of Eric Bruggeman of SACEEC, and the financial support from TLIU, without which, this pilot project would not have been possible.
Going forward industry will have an opportunity to review and assess the impact and results of the MAP programme, based on the RGR installation. “When I was first introduced to the MAP programme, I saw the potential impact that a programme of this magnitude and nature could have on the competiveness of our business and certainly our industry. Whilst some of our local products are designated, we still have to be globally competitive in order to be sustainable and successful. This comes down to making use of smart manufacturing tools and being able to be responsive to the needs of customers,” concludes Ross Hunter, RGR.
