A range of ready-to-use cabling solutions is now available to fit commonly used drive systems.

The cables from motion plastics manufacturer igus are available in custom lengths to speed-up cable installation by providing the exact fit for specific systems, eliminating excessive cable lengths and reducing the risks of damage or tangling.

The company notes that its ready cables are designed to work seamlessly with most manufacturers, making them a versatile solution for different drive systems. "Whether you rely on Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Harting, Baumüller, Beckhoff, Fanuc, SEW or any other leading brands, igus has you covered," affirms igus sales executive Edwin van Niekerk.

“We have an impressive catalogue of approximately 4 600 harnessed motor, servo, signal, and encoder cables, that ensures you find the perfect cable for your specific application . . . igus continues to expand its offerings, introducing new cables regularly.

“From a cost perspective it provides a good balance between cost-effectiveness and uncompromising quality with a choice of seven cable qualities. Users can choose the most suitable option that meets their performance needs while remaining mindful of their budget," he adds.

Van Niekerk explains that cables are assembled with advanced machines for connectors and cable harnessing, ensuring precise and reliable connections. Each cable also undergoes crimp force and crimp depth monitoring during the harnessing process to ensure consistent quality and minimised risk of faulty connections.

The company asserts that its manufacturing sites adhere to standardised processes, ensuring consistent quality across all products and that every cable undergoes 100% function testing involving digital and logic testing to verify the performance and reliability of each cable. Furthermore, each cable is sealed for quality assurance.

igus notes that its Midrand-based South African operation ensures fast delivery and reduced lead times for local customers. In addition to cables, the company’s range of products includes energy chains, or e-chains, and connectors. There is no minimum order quantity and customers can purchase a single cable or a bulk order, depending on the quantity required, in an effort to reduce costs and effectively manage inventory.
