TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – TSX-V- and Aim-listed Rambler Metals this week shipped its fourth consignment of copper concentrate to its offtake partner Transamine Trading.

The shipment of about 7 800 wet metric tonnes (wmt) of copper concentrate was sent to international markets from the company’s bulk storage facility in Goodyear’s Cove, Newfoundland, bringing the total concentrate shipped to about 26 000 wmt since first concentrate production in late May 2012.

The company’s own sampling had determined that the consignment contained an average grading of 30% copper, 6.5 g/t gold and 30 g/t silver.

Since the last shipment in May, the company had been fine-tuning production through the Nugget Pond milling facility, with copper recovery over the past two months averaging 95%, and the average run-of-mine head grade totalling about 3.85% copper.

During this period, the company produced about 83 wmt of copper concentrate a day, containing 21 t of copper, from its flagship Ming mine, located on the Baie Verte peninsula, and on some days achieved more than 100 wmt of output.

Following the shipment, the company still had about 1 300 wmt of concentrate in storage.

“I am pleased to report that the company continues to make good quality concentrate, while overall copper recovery is exceeding forecasted levels.

“We have now supplied 26 000 wmt of copper concentrate, which is 30% of our original commitment to supply 85 000 wmt, after only 16 months of production, including a five-month commissioning and ramp-up period. We are now producing in excess of 2 000 wmt of copper concentrate on a monthly basis, with August and September being 2 388 wmt and 2 484 wmt respectively,” Rambler president and CEO George Ogilvie said.
