President Cyril Ramaphosa would not be attending the annual four-day World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, next week, his office said on Thursday.

He would be skipping the UK-Africa Investment Summit in London on Monday.

"The president has taken this decision to give attention to pressing domestic priorities and preparations for the governing party and cabinet makgotla," said his spokesperson Khusela Diko

She said Ramaphosa was also busy with preparations for South Africa's chairing of the African Union at the thirty-third African Union Summit on February 9 to 10.

"South Africa will be represented in Davos and London by senior government and civil society representatives led by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni and International Relations and Cooperation Minister Dr Naledi Pandor.

"The president is confident that the nation will benefit from the participation of the government and civil society delegations in the Davos and London events," said Diko.
