Project Description
The plan is to expand the capacity at the Raigarh steel plant, in Chhattisgarh, by seven-million tons a year in a two-phase expansion.
In Phase 1, JSPL intends to expand the plant capacity by four-million tons a year.
Phase 2 will increase capacity by a further three-million tons a year.
Value
Rs24 000 crore – Rs15 000 crore (Phase 1) and Rs9 000 crore (Phase 2).
Duration
The first phase is expected to be completed within three years after work has started.
Latest Developments
Work on the expansion project can begin only once the plant location has been finalised with the government of Chhattisgarh.
