The hearing set up to investigate the complaints lodged against Communications Minister Dina Pule has been postponed.

The Parliamentary Communication Service said in a statement that the nine-member panel, formed by the Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests, had agreed to postpone the hearings until early May.

No reasons were given for the postponement.

Initially, Pule was expected to face the panel, chaired by senior African National Congress MP Professor Ben Turok, from April 22 to 26.

“The committee took a decision on February 20 that, in terms of paragraph 3.1 of the procedure for the investigation of complaints, a hearing must be held to deal with complaints against Minister Pule,” said the committee’s cochairperson Lemias Mashile in a statement released by the Parliamentary Communication Services.

He did not elaborate further on what the “complaints” comprised.

Other panel members included Andrew Mlangeni, Bhekizizwe Radebe, Modjadji Mangena, Diane Kohler Barnard, Jacobus van der Merwe, Thabo Makunyane, Zukiswa Rantho and Swaphi Plaatjie.
