The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) on Wednesday announced a postponement of the public hearing on a Sasol Gas application for the approval of maximum prices and transmission tariffs for piped gas to March 20.

In addition, Nersa would conduct an additional stakeholder workshop on March 11 to provide context and background to the Methodology to Approve Maximum Prices of Piped-Gas, which was approved in November 2011.

The announcement followed an urgent postponement request by the Manufacturing Circle last month, which stated that additional time was needed to allow for consideration of the application by the relevant stakeholders, citing that the notice for the public hearing to be held on February 19 was only published on February 15.

Sasol Gas submitted an application to Nersa on December 23 seeking approval for the proposed maximum price for piped gas for the period March 26, 2014 to June 30, 2017, as well as approval of the proposed tariff for its transmission pipelines for the period March 26, 2014 to June 30, 2015.
