Latest Developments
The Pentagon issued three contracts in March 2020. The DoD awarded contracts to BWX Technologies for $13.5-million, Westinghouse Government Services of Washington for $11.9-million, and X-Energy for $14.3-million to begin a two-year design competition for the devel­opment of a microreactor.

Following the two-year design period, one of the companies funded may be selected to build and demonstrate a prototype.
