Productora copper project, Chile
Name and Location
Productora copper project, Santiago, Chile.
Client
Hot Chilli.
Project Description
A prefeasibility study (PFS) on the project has expanded its mineral resource – through the addition of the newly discovered Alice porphyry, a new
low-grade resource estimate and a revision of the Productora main zone – to 1.47-million tonnes of contained copper and 980 000 oz of gold. The mineral resource continues to increase and ore reserve tonnage has almost doubled to 166.9-million tonnes. Contained metal currently comprises
720 000 t of contained copper and 470 000 oz of gold.
The PFS has demonstrated a robust blueprint to develop one of Chile’s next large-scale coastal mines.
Studies have focused on openpit mining of two large sulphide pits and five smaller oxide pits.
The PFS envisages conventional processing technology for a 14-million-tonne-a-year sulphide concentrator and a 3.3-million-tonne-a-year heap-leach and solvent extraction and electrowinning circuit.
Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return
The project has a post-tax net present value of $220-million and an internal rate of return of 15%, with a payback of 3.9 years.
Value
Preproduction capital is estimated at $725-million.
