JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Australian gold miner Newcrest has resumed production at the Kencana mine, at its Gosowong operations, in Indonesia.

Mining at Gosowong’s Toguraci and Kencana mines was suspended in early February, after a geotechnical event trapped a miner for eight days.

Production at Toguraci resumed in April and operations at Kencana resumed on the weekend.

“Both mines will continue to ramp up, with full production not expected for at least two months,” Newcrest reported in a statement on Tuesday.

Gosowong’s production for the 2016 financial year would be at the bottom of the guidance provided in April, while the group’s production guidance remained unchanged at between 2.4-million and 2.6-million ounces of gold.
