PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Emerging gold developer Primary Gold on Friday reported that an initial evaluation of its Toms Gully mine and processing plant, in the Northern Territory, has indicated upside potential.

A scoping study, completed in 2012, showed that restarting production from the mine and processing plant would be viable, and that production costs would total some A$1 000/oz.

The scoping study also showed the benefit of significant surface and underground infrastructure at Toms Gully, including a 250 000 t/y processing plant, which would positively impact capital costs, payback periods and ramp-up time to full production.

“We are encouraged by our initial assessment of Toms Gully and are looking forward to reviewing the full feasibility study, which will confirm the production parameters and costs, and further investigate upside potential in areas such as mine life and unit costs,” said Primary Gold MD Clay Gordon.

The results of the scoping study would be fed into the feasibility study currently under way. The feasibility study was due for completion in the current quarter and would include an updated resource estimate.

“We are definitely making progress towards our target of bringing Toms Gully back into production,” said Gordon.
