The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has appointed Japhtalina Lesibana Fosu CFO, effective September 2.

PRASA had been without a permanent CFO since 2014, which resulted in an unstable finance department, which has not delivered clean audits since 2014.

PRASA is recruiting group executives to stabilise the entity.

The State-owned entity said last week that Fosu – a chartered accountant – had more than 19 years of executive experience in the public and private sectors, as well as with nongovernmental and international institutions.

Fosu received a clean audit award from the auditor-general of South Africa, on behalf of the Limpopo Road Accident Fund, for two consecutive financial years – 2012/13 and 2013/14.
