Project Description
The Russi biomass plant will be built in an industrial area previously occupied by the Eridania sugar refinery, in the town of Russi, near Ravenna.
The plant, with an installed power generation capacity of 30 MW, will be fuelled by chipped virgin wood, sourced locally, with a requirement of about 270 000 t/y of fuel.
The biogas plant, with a power generation capacity of 1 MW, will require 18 000 t/y of corn silage and 26 000 t/y of pig manure from local producers, thereby avoiding what is sometimes uncontrolled disposal in the area.
Total output is estimated at 222 GWh/y, enough to meet the needs of 84 000 households and avoid the atmospheric emissions of 117 000 t/y of carbon dioxide.
