Power transmission firm returns to Electra show
Power transmission firm Rossi Southern Africa is returning to Electra Mining Africa for a third time, putting on display its range of gearboxes and power packs in Hall 5.
The KwaZulu-Natal-based subsidiary of the global Rossi Group sells gearboxes and components imported from Modena, Italy, and assembled at its facility in the Dube Tradeport, near Durban.
The company services the complete Rossi range of industrial gear units and is capable of assembling bevel helical drives with torque of up to 70 000 Nm. In general, Rossi also offers an extended range of helical and bevel helical gearboxes with torque transmission capabilities of up to 1.7-million Nm and a planetary range for torque of up to 3-million Nm.
Rossi Southern Africa exports its products to many African countries, such as Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Swaziland. As evidence of this, many Rossi conveyor drive units, exported from South Africa, are in use in several different sub-Saharan countries, such as at the Kipoi copper mine, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and at Royal Swazi Sugar’s Mhlume sugar mill, in Swaziland.
Rossi Group – company of the Habasit Group – was the first transmission manufacturer in Italy, and the second in Europe, to obtain ISO 9001 certification, and has also been the first company to give three-years warranty on all its manufacturing range.
The company has three manufacturing plants in Italy: two in Modena, dedicated to machining and assembly of helical, bevel helical, worm, coaxial, big planetary gearboxes and electric motors and a plant in Lecce, specialising in machining and assembly of medium and small planetary gearboxes.
